Starting on Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a $50 price increase. The jump comes ahead of the busy summer season, so it’s best to get the gaming console now before the price goes up.

Right now, you can get the Nintendo Switch 2 for $449 at Walmart. However, come Sept. 1, the same console is going to be $499. If you want to save $50, it’s recommended that you add to cart before the price increase goes into effect.

Released in June 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 broke sales records upon its debut, as the console marched to selling more than 20 million units over the past year. Its success comes from its upgraded hardware compared to the original with a larger 7.9-inch HDR (High Dynamic Range) display, enhanced 4K Ultra HD graphics and wide selection of games available.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is great, but you’ll also need games to play, so you can really see how much the console can handle, compared to the original. Nintendo has a handful of titles available, including “Donkey Kong Bananza,” “Mario Kart World,” “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond,” “Mario Tennis Fever,” “Kirby Air Riders” and others.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is also available for purchase on Amazon.

And since it’s from Walmart, you can simply go and pick up the Nintendo Switch 2 at your local retail location, or if you’re a Walmart+ member, you can get the gaming console shipped to you for free. Otherwise, your cart has to be over $35 — and with the gaming console, it certainly would be.

You can sign up for a Walmart+ 30-day trial for just $1 to take advantage of all that the subscription service has to offer, such as access to Paramount+ or Peacock; fast free shipping with no order minimum; in-store discounts at Walmart; savings at Burger King, access to exclusive shopping events — such as Deals for Days and Savings Week — and many more perks. For a limited time, Nintendo Switch 2 is available for $449 at Walmart and Amazon. However, on Sept. 1, the price jumps to $499 across retailers.
