Based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling “Game Changers” book series, “Heated Rivalry” centers on Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie), two rival professional hockey players whose public animosity masks a years-long private romance. The Canadian series, created, written and directed by Jacob Tierney, premiered on Crave in Canada and streams on HBO Max in the U.S.
The show quickly became one of the internet’s most obsessive fandoms after its debut, with viewers flooding social media with fan edits of Shane and Ilya’s every glance, in addition to propelling Williams and Storrie to superstardom. The new Funko drop is the latest drop in a wave of merch releases inspired by the hit show.
“Heated Rivalry” has been renewed for Season 2, with production expected to be soon underway. The upcoming season is set to adapt “The Long Game,” Reid’s follow-up novel that continues Shane and Ilya’s story as they navigate the pressures of their secret relationship, fame and life in professional hockey.
