Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials – Original TV Soundtrack
The collection features music from “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder” and “The Giggle,” which reunited Tennant and Catherine Tate as the Doctor and Donna Noble more than a decade after their original run together. The episodes, which aired between Nov. 25 and Dec.9, 2023, also introduced Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, following an unusual regeneration storyline that saw Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor split into two incarnations.
Gold, who composed music for Doctor Who from its 2005 revival through 2017, returned to the series alongside showrunner Russell T Davies for the anniversary specials. His new score brought back several familiar musical themes including “I Am the Doctor,” originally associated with Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, while introducing updating arrangements of the series’ iconic theme music.
The soundtrack includes track such as “Once Upon a Time Lord,” “Just Like the Old Days,” “The Edge of the Universe” and “Bi-Generation,” each corresponding to major moments across the three episodes. Music from “The Giggle” also accompanies the return of the Toymaker, played by Neil Patrick Harris, who faces off against Tennant’s Doctor before the introduction of Gatwa’s incarnation.
