When it comes to the vast TV programming available in today’s streaming landscape, it can still feel difficult to access live news coverage without cable. DIRECTV offers an answer to that confusion with its MyNews, standalone streaming Genre Pack designed specifically for viewers who prioritize 24/7 news coverage over reality TV or sprawling entertainment bundles.
Available through DIRECTV’s growing lineup of category-specific streaming packages, MyNews offers access to 10+ national news channels, plus select local channels where available for $44.99 per month.

Positioned as a slimmer alternative to traditional cable, the package includes major networks such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, CNBC, Bloomberg Television and Newsmax, alongside select local ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliates depending on the subscriber’s market.
The launch comes amid a broader push from DIRECTV to repackage live television around viewer habits rather than the traditional “everything included” cable model. Introduced as part of the company’s Genre Packs initiative, MyNews sits alongside other category-focused offerings like MySports, MyEntertainment, MyKids and MiEspañol.
Unlike many legacy cable subscriptions, the streaming-first plan is contract-free and includes unlimited cloud DVR functionality through the DIRECTV app. The service also provides access to MyFree DIRECTV, the company’s ad-supported streaming platform featuring additional free channels.
DIRECTV has continued expanding the package since its initial rollout. In 2025, the company added C-SPAN and C-SPAN2 to the MyNews lineup, alongside Bloomberg News and additional local affiliate coverage, signaling an effort to position the bundle as a comprehensive destination for politics, financial reporting and breaking news.
