Few destinations deliver on the promise of a true escape quite like Hawaii. For Los Angeles travelers in particular, the islands have long served as an easy change of scenery — close enough for a relatively quick getaway, but far enough from Hollywood traffic to feel like a proper vacation.
Choosing the right hotel can shape the entire trip, whether your ideal itinerary involves staying planted beside the pool, walking to Waikiki’s restaurants and shops or retreating to a sprawling resort along the Big Island’s Kohala Coast.

Hilton has options for nearly every type of Hawaiian getaway, ranging from the 22-acre Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort to the more intimate Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, which became Hawaii’s first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in 2025.
Booking directly through Hilton can also unlock Hilton Honors benefits. Hilton Honors members who book directly through Hilton.com or the Hilton Honors app can earn Points on eligible stays and access benefits such as member rates, Digital Check-In, room selection and Digital Key where available
From an all-suite stay with complimentary breakfast to an oceanfront resort with its own saltwater lagoon, below are five Hilton properties to consider for your next Hawaiian vacation.
Which Hilton Hawaii Hotel Is Right for You?
Best beachfront resort in Waikiki: Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort
Best Big Island resort: Hilton Waikoloa Village
Best boutique-style Waikiki stay: The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Best all-suite hotel in Waikiki: Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk
Best value near Waikiki attractions: DoubleTree by Hilton Alana – Waikiki Beach
Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort
For travelers who want the full resort experience without leaving Honolulu, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, located in Oahu, is practically a destination unto itself.
The 22-acre oceanfront property sits along the widest stretch of beach in Waikiki and contains multiple pools, waterslides and the area’s only saltwater lagoon. Guests can swim, snorkel, take surfing lessons or simply move between the beach and pool without organizing an off-property excursion. The resort also hosts cultural activities, an on-site luau and a weekly Friday-nightfireworks show along the beach.
Its size is especially useful for families and groups with different vacation priorities. One person can head to the Mandara Spa while someone else rents beach equipment or takes the kids to the pool, before everyone reconvenes for dinner at one of the resort’s 18 on-site restaurants, lounges and bars.
Accommodations are spread across several towers, allowing guests to choose based on location, view and budget. The landmark Rainbow Tower offers newly renovated rooms with coastal colors, natural textures and views overlooking the Pacific, Diamond Head and the Honolulu coastline. Many rooms throughout the resort also include private balconies, giving guests a dedicated place to take in the ocean air away from the activity below.
Best for: Families, groups and first-time visitors looking for a comprehensive Waikiki resort experience.
Hilton Waikoloa Village
Located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii Island (The Big Island), Hilton Waikoloa Village spans 62 oceanfront acres and is the kind of resort where guests can build an entire itinerary without even renting a car.
The property is organized around a four-acre, ocean-fed saltwater lagoon, where guests can swim and snorkel in protected water. The broader resort includes four pools, waterslides, a full-service spa, shopping, water sports and access to nearby golf. A tram even transports guests across the expansive grounds, making the scale of the property part of the experience rather than an inconvenience.
Rooms and suites are available in the Palace Tower, while travelers looking for an upgraded stay can book the premium MAKAI experience. Accommodations combine contemporary interiors with tropical views, and many include private lanais that overlook the ocean, lagoon or landscaped grounds.
There are also enough on-site dining options to keep guests from falling into a repetitive resort-food routine. Restaurants and casual counters are located throughout the property, including lagoon-side and poolside spots suited to everything from a quick lunch in a swimsuit to a more leisurely dinner.
The resort’s full-service setup is particularly valuable on the Big Island, where attractions can be spread far apart. Guests can spend one day exploring volcanoes, waterfalls or the Kona Coast, then dedicate the next entirely to the pools, lagoon and spa.
Best for: Families, couples and resort loyalists who want room to spread out on the Big Island.
The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki offers a more boutique-minded alternative to Honolulu’s sprawling beachfront resorts.
Located on Oahu at the gateway to Waikiki, the 368-room property is within walking distance of Grays Beach, Waikiki Beach and Fort DeRussy Beach Park, as well as the neighborhood’s restaurants and shopping. It became the first hotel in Hawaii to join Hilton’s Tapestry Collection in 2025, bringing the benefits of the Hilton Honors program to a property designed with a more independent, locally influenced personality.
The hotel’s design draws inspiration from Waikiki’s surf culture and emphasizes colorful, residential-style spaces. Guests can choose from standard rooms, ocean-view accommodations, connecting suites and larger penthouse options with private lanais.
On-property amenities include a full sun deck with an outdoor pool, a fitness center and two restaurants. Rooms also come with free Wi-Fi, while pet-friendly accommodations make the hotel an option for travelers bringing a four-legged companion.
Best for: Couples, friends and design-conscious travelers who want a boutique atmosphere near central Waikiki.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk
Traveling with children — or simply wanting more space — can make an all-suite hotel particularly appealing. Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk places guests one block from Waikiki Beach in accommodations that provide separate areas for sleeping and relaxing.
The property is also less than half a mile from the International Market Place and sits within Waikiki Beach Walk, putting restaurants, stores and entertainment within easy walking distance. That location allows guests to enjoy Waikiki without needing to rent a car for every outing.
The strongest reason to book, however, may be what is included in the stay. Guests receive a complimentary made-to-order breakfast each morning and access to a complimentary evening reception on the Grand Lanai.
Other amenities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, on-site restaurant, room service and complimentary Wi-Fi. The property also offers Digital Key, allowing eligible guests to use the Hilton Honors app to access their suites.
The combination of suite-style layouts, included breakfast and a walkable location makes Embassy Suites one of the most practical options on this list, particularly for longer stays.
Best for: Families, groups and travelers who prioritize space and included extras.

DoubleTree by Hilton Alana – Waikiki Beach
DoubleTree by Hilton Alana – Waikiki Beach offers a quieter home base near the western edge of Waikiki while keeping guests close to the neighborhood’s beaches and major attractions.
The hotel is within half a mile of Duke Kahanamoku Beach and Lagoon, Fort DeRussy Beach Park and the Hilton Boat Pier. It is also positioned conveniently for travelers attending events at the nearby Hawai‘i Convention Center or planning to explore both Waikiki and the greater Honolulu area.
Guests can choose from rooms with city, mountain or ocean views, along with connecting junior suites for parties requiring additional space. On-property amenities include a private outdoor pool terrace, fitness center and restaurant, while rooms provide free Wi-Fi and streaming entertainment. Plus, it’s pet-friendly!
Hilton Honors members booking directly can also access benefits such as the Hilton Honors discount rate, points toward future stays, Digital Check-In, room selection and Digital Key. Theproperty offers a dependable middle ground between an enormous resort and a stripped-down city hotel.
Best for: Couples, solo travelers and repeat Waikiki visitors who want a convenient, slightly calmer location.
